Thanks for visiting! For the next 7 months, I’ll be an English teaching assistant in the town of Gap, the largest (but still pretty small) town in the Hautes-Alpes department in France. So you can forgive me for the shamelessly punny title for this blog, right? If you drew a line from Grenoble to Cannes or Nice, Gap would be almost exactly on that line, just slightly closer to the Grenoble side. So, we’re talking the Alps in the Southeast of France.
The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) is a huge program run by the French Ministry of Education. My académie (school district) is welcoming teaching assistants for English, German, Italian, and Spanish. I’m really looking forward to meeting
Two years ago, I spent a semester in Aix-en-Provence, which led me to request to be placed in this school district. If you were kind enough to read my blog during that semester, I think this writing experiment will be slightly different. I’m still figuring it out, but I’m thinking of occasionally sharing my experiences teaching my kids (middle-schoolers and high-schoolers) and traveling within and beyond France–we assistants will be getting lots of vacation time…shocking, no?
However often you care to visit and comment on the blog, thank you! This blog’s main goal is to keep everyone I care about up to date, but I also hope it encourages me to be more vigilant than usual about staying in touch.
